Standard Bank Gallery is a non-profit venture that reinforces our commitment as one of South Africa's major arts patrons. It makes art more easily accessible to those living and working in downtown Johannesburg.
The bank's management does not dictate the nature and extent of the exhibitions, but rather leaves aesthetic decisions to a panel of experts.
Exhibitions change regularly, showing what is regarded as the best in contemporary South African art, as well as shows of local and international collections.
The gallery serves an important educational role. Regular talks by resident artists, guided tours or exhibitions and lunch-hour concerts and recitals are a few ways the gallery helps create an awareness and love for the arts among a cross-section of the population.
