To apply for a new overdraft, visit any Standard Bank branch.
If you have an existing overdraft limit and you have held your current account for at least 6 months, you may use any of the following to apply for increases or decreases in your existing overdraft.
AutoPlus:
Select the "Other transactions" option, then select "Loans/Overdraft" and then select "Overdraft". Choose the option you want, either "Decrease" or "Increase" Overdraft limit and enter the new Overdraft amount.
Internet banking
- Log on to Internet banking
- Click on "Account services" and select "Overdraft"
- Enter the required limit amount and click on "Continue"
What you need to apply
- Have a Standard Bank current account that is either currently open or opened at the same time as the overdraft application;
- Be a South African citizen or have permanent South African residence;
- Be 18 years or older;
- Have an acceptable credit record;
- Earn a minimum gross monthly salary of R3 000;
- Three months' bank statements and proof of residence if you have never had a Standard Bank account before.
