If you lose your debit card or change your cellphone number you need to need to give us your new cellphone details by going into your nearest Standard Bank Branch. You can also report lost or stolen cards by calling 0800 020 600

To open an AccessAccount

  • You must be 16 years or older
  • Have a South African bar-coded identity document; or
  • Valid passport and work or study permit for non SA citizens
  • Proof of your residential address not older than three months. If you cannot give us proof of your residential address, your account will be opened as an E17 account and limits will apply

To qualify for the R59 bundle, in addition to the above, you will also need:

  • To be 18 years and older
  • Be a salaried individual earning R3 000 or more a month
  • Proof of income

The following transaction limits apply to an E17 account. You may not:

  • Withdraw, transfer or make payments of more than R5 000 a day or R25 000 a month.
  • Do any cross-border transactions except for transfers as a result of point-of-sale (POS) payments or cash withdrawals in the Common Monetary Area (CMA) that is Swaziland, Lesotho and Namibia.
  • Have a balance greater than R25 000 in your account at any time.
  • Have two or more similar accounts, unless they are exempt from Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).
  • Link your account to more than one card.

Note: If you do not keep to these limits, your account will be frozen

You can choose from three fee options:

  • Pay as you bank - pay a fee for each transaction

  • The R30 bundled fee option gives you:
    • Three cash withdrawals
    • One cash deposit
    • One electronic transaction
    • One debit order
    • Four card swipes

    Once you have used all of these transactions, pay-as-you-bank fees will apply.

  • The R59 bundled fee option gives you:
    • Unlimited free:
      • Cash-ins and Cash-outs at AccessPoints
      • Debit orders
      • Card swipes
      • Cash back at POS
      • Beneficiary payments
      • Airtime recharges
      • Inter-account transfers
    • Four ATM withdrawals*
    • Two ATM deposits*
    • R2 000 death benefit for the account holder*
    • *Once you have used all of these transactions, pay-as-you-bank fees will apply.
