What is the closing date for applications?
The closing date for the 2010 intake is 31 August 2009. Unfortunately late applications cannot be considered under any circumstances

Does the bank employ only commerce graduates on the Quants Graduate Programme?
Standard Bank is looking for graduates from various fields of study with a strong mathematical and statistical background.

Do I need to have a postgraduate qualification to be considered for the Quants Graduate Programme?
No, although a postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.

Would I be considered for the Quants Graduate Programme if I still have a few modules left to be completed in 2010?
Unfortunately you will need to have already completed all your modules to be considered.

Do I get paid while on the Quants Graduate Programme?
Graduates will be paid a market-related salary while on the programme.

Where would I be based for the duration of the programme?
Graduates will be based at the Standard Bank head office in Johannesburg for the duration of the programme.

Can I apply for more than one graduate programme?
You are welcome to apply to more than one of the graduate programmes that Standard Bank offers.

Can I further my studies while on the Quants Graduate Programme?
A component of the programme includes studying towards a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) qualification. Bursaries are offered to graduates who wish to pursue these qualifications.

Where do I get application forms?
There is no application form for this programme. You may apply by emailing a copy of your ID book, full academic results, and your curriculum vitae to quants@standardbank.co.za

Will the graduates get exposure to the entire bank?
Graduates will rotate in departments which use financial models these include Corporate and Investment Banking, Personal and Business banking as well as Corporate Services.

Will I get international exposure on the Quants Graduate Programme?
There is an international rotation in London.

What are the working hours?
Normal working hours apply: 8am to 4.30pm.

When will I know if I have been shortlisted?
Due to the volume of applications only candidates that are invited for interviews will receive feedback. If you have not heard from us by 30 October 2009 you need to accept that your application has not been successful.
