Standard Bank donates R51 000 for disaster relief
Standard Bank has donated R51 000 to assist with disaster-relief in the snow-hit areas of the Eastern Cape.
In addition, the bank has also opened an account in Queenstown for Standard Bank staff to donate money.
Says Mpumzi Pupuma, Standard Bank Eastern Cape Provincial Director: "The suffering experienced by communities in the Eastern Cape has touched all of us very deeply and we felt that as a concerned corporate citizen we had to set an example."
He said they had decided to open a staff fund after staff had approached his office to enquire about donating money to assist victims of the disaster. Once all the money had been collected, it would be distributed to the relevant authorities.
