In the top 10 of 300 South African companies

Standard Bank has been named by the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) as a top 10 South African company for 2001/2.

The award was announced at the annual "Top 300 Companies" dinner in Kyalami on 19 September.

Top 300 Companies, an annual publication, invites the JCCI to name their top 10 companies based on criteria such as growth, performance, contribution to the economy, export orientation or global expansion, job creation and transformation.

Top 300 Companies says the top 10 nominated companies all have one thing in common: "They are local companies that have achieved unparalleled success in their particular fields, within our borders, in Africa or on the world stage. All are leaders in their area of expertise and all are true South Africa success stories".

Standard Bank's citation says we have established ourselves as a leader in banking technology.

The other nominated companies are Altron, Anglo Platinum, Barloworld, BMW, FirstRand, Massmart, Pick 'n Pay, Sasol and Sappi.
