Corporate social investment

In terms of the charter, the financial sector agreed that 0,5% of after-tax profits would be dedicated to corporate social investment (CSI) projects catering for the needs of black people. Six key areas are defined in the charter which constitute the focus of CSI spending, namely education, health and welfare, entrepreneurship, heritage, sport development, and arts and culture.

In 2004, we contributed R31 million to charter qualifying CSI projects, with the majority of our resources dedicated to education.
