Standard Bank has, for the past
couple of years, adopted a policy of preferential
procurement from small and medium-sized companies
owned and operated by black South Africans. This
policy has the benefit of providing growth opportunities
for small businesses by enhancing competition
and innovation among our suppliers.
According to the findings of the Empowerdex
Survey of the Top 250 Small Black Companies published
in October 2004, Standard Bank is highly rated
as a source of business to small black companies.
Our procurement department has staff dedicated
to assisting small companies to become suppliers
of the bank and to comply with our preferential
procurement policy.
