Social investment governance and management

Standard Bank has a dedicated team to coordinate and manage our CSI programme in South Africa. Our CSI division’s ongoing community development and upliftment activities form one of the two cornerstones of our corporate social strategy. The other cornerstone is our public affairs division, which aims to support and promote constructive and mutually beneficial relationships with governments and the wider marketplace.

Details on our public affairs division can be found here.

Our CSI division is responsible for:

  • accounting for all Standard Bank social investment activities;

  • managing large social investment projects, approving support for smaller projects and coordinating the developmental activities undertaken by other group departments and divisions;

  • ensuring that social investment custodians always properly monitor and evaluate social investment projects; and

  • establishing and managing relationships with project partners and representing the social investment programme across all stakeholder groups.
