Sasbo, the finance union, is a
partner with the bank in harmonising relationships
between the bank and its employees. In 2004, about
48% of employees were members of Sasbo.
We engage with Sasbo on all matters concerning
employees, from remuneration and benefits to restructuring
and disciplinary matters. We engage Sasbo through
forums set up through the recognition agreement
between Sasbo and ourselves.
In addition, there are other informal engagements
and formal meetings to share information on the
future of the bank. We successfully piloted the
alternate dispute resolution (ADR) process in
2004, which is an alternate remedial resource
to the established employment dispute resolution
services of the CCMA.
