Information technology

International places significant emphasis on the appropriateness and quality of information systems and on the use of information technology in monitoring and managing our risks and our growing business activities. International’s strategic approach to software has been to utilise package solutions purchased from major international software vendors. These packages have been integrated across the organisation by using application middleware. All International offices are linked and use common central applications, with differentiations where necessary to accommodate local operating conditions.

We increased our level of expenditure on information systems during 2003 and 2004, and intend to maintain an increased level of annual expenditure during 2005. The rationale for such increases is to continue to upgrade International’s systems infrastructure to ensure that it remains appropriate to our product development and geographic reach.
