The landmark Exchange Square in Sandton is a joint venture development between Standard Bank Properties and
Group Five.
Innovative partnering techniques enabled this fast track project, of three separate buildings, to be completed
in a twenty month period.
The perspective from Maude Street shows the curve of the 10-storey crescent-shaped building, complemented by a
concave façade formed by the two smaller buildings. The north façade has been designed with "punched windows"
for sun control, while the curved glass façade to the south is light and transparent.
The exterior of the main building is dominated by hi-tech double glazed curtain walling, with glass and sandstone
façades, columns and a reflecting pool at the entrance complete the impressive external finishes.
The space within the interior is created by double and triple volume atriums, with "pause stations" where staff
and visitors can meet away from the office environment. There is a cafeteria, auditorium and gym on the ground
floor, while the top storey is reserved for the executive suites.
