We are helping our personal customers who are most sensitive to market shocks with the following automatic relief:

  • 90-day instalment relief on student loan repayments at 0% interest.
  • 90-day instalment relief on debt payments for customers who earn R7 500pm or less.

Student loan instalment relief

If the Covid-19 crisis has directly impacted your finances, you're probably wondering how you're going to pay for your Student Loan.

As we all come to terms with the effects of Covid-19, we wish to reinforce that your personal and financial wellbeing remains our top priority. In light of this, we're offering you loan payment instalment relief from 01 April until end of June at 0% interest and with zero fees. This is an automatic offer that requires no action from you.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the instalment relief if:

  • You are still studying full-time.
  • You have a student loan with Standard Bank.
  • Your loan account is not in arrears as at 31 March 2020

  • Don't assume a text, phone call or email from someone claiming to be your bank is genuine. If you're not sure, contact us directly.
  • Never disclose security details (such as your PIN or full password).

Relief for earners of R7500pm or less

We understand these are very challenging times and that all South Africans have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis, with many of those earning less being more vulnerable.

That’s why we’re committed to supporting you through this crisis and we’re offering 90-day instalment relief to all our qualifying clients who earn less than R7 500 per month.

This offers relief on access loans, credit cards, home loans, personal loans, revolving credit plans and vehicle asset finance payments from 1 April 2020 to 30 June 2020.

Eligibility:

You are eligible for the instalment relief if:

  • You earn less than R7 500 per month
  • You have a personal loan with Standard Bank (access loan, credit card, home loan, personal loan, revolving credit plan, vehicle asset finance)
  • Your account is not in arrears as at 31 March 2020
  • You have a current account with Standard Bank

Exclusions

  • Clients whose payments are in arrears as at 31 March 2020 are not eligible for this offer
  • This offer excludes overdrafts

ATM cash withdrawal Saswitch fee waived during COVID-19 lockdown period

Standard Bank will be waiving the ATM cash withdrawal Saswitch fee charged to its customers who withdraw cash using ATMs belonging to other banks. This means that during the COVID-19 lock down, our customers can use any ATM near to them and only pay the standard ATM banking fee. 

This will come into effect on Saturday 28 March 2020 and will apply to cash withdrawals from Transactional Accounts, Business Transactional Accounts, Savings Accounts and Consumer Credit Card. This change will be in place until mid-night 16 April 2020.

How does it work?

  • The offer is valid from the 25th March 2020 until the 31st March 2020.

What should I do if I am experiencing financial distress?

Customers who are in struggling to meet debt repayments with us should contact us as soon as possible. The sooner we are informed, the sooner both parties can find a workable solution to address or resolve issues of financial distress. It is not in anyone’s interest to see a business fail, or a home lost. It is in both parties’ interest to find a workable solution.

What exactly is a payment holiday?

A payment holiday means your debt repayments will be deferred for an agreed period.

How do I qualify for a payment holiday?

We have approved an automatic offer to all full-time students and requires no action from the customer to qualify. For all other customers who are struggling to meet debt repayments with us, please email [email protected] or call us or for a call back please complete the Contact me form.

What is the Personal Loans instalment relief offering?

We understand these are very challenging times and that all South Africans have been affected by the Covid-19 crisis, with many of those earning less being more vulnerable. That’s why we’re committed to supporting you through this crisis and we’re offering a 90-day instalment relief to all our qualifying clients who earn less than R7 500 per month. As part of our ongoing commitment to our clients, we are pleased to offer a payment holiday to our Personal Lending clients who meet the criteria outlined below.

Who is eligible for the Personal Loans instalment relief?

  • You earn less than R7 500 per month (gross income.
  • You have a Personal Loan with Standard Bank (Access Loan, Credit Card, Home Loan, Personal Loan, Revolving Credit Plan, Vehicle Asset Finance).
  • You have a current account with Standard Bank.&
  • Your account is not in arrears as at 31 March 2020.&

Who is excluded from the Personal Loans instalment relief?

  • Customers whose payments are in arrears as at 31 March 2020.
  • This offer excludes Overdrafts (Interest on Overdrafts will still be charged).
  • This offer excludes Home Loans held in a trust.

How do I opt-out of the Personal Loans instalment relief?

This offer will be automatically applied, however, should you wish to opt-out of the instalment relief, you can pay your loan instalment as normal, or email [email protected].

Are there additional facilities that can assist me during this time?

If you require temporary excesses, increased Overdraft limits, removal of reduction orders on your Overdrafts, or VAF restructures, you should contact your branch or call centre directly, who will assist you through the normal process.
