Get your Smart ID and Passport at a Standard Bank branch

Standard Bank has partnered with The Department of Home Affairs to launch a more convenient way for you to get your Smart ID and/or your Passport.

You can renew or apply for a new Smart ID and/or Passport online by using the steps below and collect at one of 3 participating Standard Bank branches from Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 15:30:

  • Canal Walk (CPT)
  • Killarney Mall (JHB)
  • Centurion Branch (PTA)

 

  1. Visit https://ehome.dha.gov.za/echannel to apply or renew your Smart ID and/or Passport by completing the online application form.
  2. Log into Standard Bank Internet Banking and pay for your Smart ID and/or Passport application.
  3. Once payment is completed, visit one of the branches listed above:

    • To register using your existing South African green bar coded identity document
    • Scan your finger prints and;
    • take new identity or passport photos.          
  4. You will receive an SMS notification from the Department of Home Affairs to collect your Smart ID/Passport at the Standard Bank branch where you completed your application when it is ready.

*Applications can be made by any South African Standard Bank customer for Passports and South African Standard Bank customers over the age of 16 for the Smart ID.
