The advantage is not access to AI. It is how we execute at scale

Standard Bank has been recognised as South Africa’s most AI-mature bank. And with this maturity comes a shift in focus from capability to impact and how we embed AI into how teams design, build and deliver solutions every day.

On 8 and 9 July 2026, Personal & Private Banking will host Activate, a two-day working summit at the Sandton Convention Centre. Activate brings together engineers, designers, product managers and delivery teams and is designed with a clear objective to accelerate execution with AI across the organisation.

This is not a traditional conference. Activate is a hands-on, cross-functional working session aimed at moving beyond experimentation. The emphasis is on practical delivery, sharper accountability, deeper collaboration and measurable outcomes.

“We have invested in building strong AI capability across the Group. The opportunity now is to translate that capability into consistent delivery at scale,” says Funeka Montjane, Chief Executive Officer of Personal & Private Banking. “That requires embedding AI into how we work every day, in our decisions, our processes and our client solutions. Activate is about accelerating that shift, led by the teams closest to the work.”

The event builds on Standard Bank’s recognised leadership in AI, including its ranking as South Africa’s number one AI-mature bank in the Evident AI Index and second across the Middle East and Africa. With more than 20,000 colleagues already using AI across the Group, the priority is clear: deepen adoption and drive measurable business value.

Activate reflects Standard Bank’s belief that transformation is delivered through disciplined execution, people working together with intent, turning strategy into outcomes, and capability into client impact.
