Operational through lockdown

Standard Bank wishes to inform customers that it will remain fully operational through the national lockdown and that all banking services will remain available.

Following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement that a 21-day national lockdown will be enforced from midnight on Thursday, Standard Bank reminds customers that it is exempt from the lockdown as an essential services provider.

The bank has implemented robust business-continuity measures, including provisions for employees to work from home wherever possible, and has ensured that its systems will be supported, maintained and continuously improved throughout the lockdown period.

Our point-of-sale services will remain functional for essential businesses including supermarket retailers, and our call centres will remain operational and ready to attend to customer queries. We will also be open for SASSA grant recipients throughout this period.

While branches will remain open and ATMs operational, we encourage all customers to use digital channels wherever possible to transact. We would like to remind customers that they can make payments and purchases, access loans, open accounts and perform other tasks online. Should customers need to access a service in one of our branches, we would like to encourage the practice of social distancing where possible.

We sincerely thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding at this time – we know that this is an uncertain and difficult period for all South Africans, and for the world, and we acknowledge that we will have a critical role to play in the weeks ahead.

Standard Bank aims to uphold high service standards during the lockdown. We are ready to serve our customers, employees and local communities as we help the country through this crisis together.
