Standard Bank Sponsors 2024 Cape Town Cycle Tour

Standard Bank is the platinum sponsor of the 2024 Cape Town Cycle Tour, Africa’s largest timed cycling event. Traditionally attracting over 32 000 cycling enthusiasts from around the world, the 46th edition is set for Sunday, 10 March.

“The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust is thrilled about the partnership's potential to enrich the experiences of participants, spectators, and communities. This event generates funds for the Pedal Power Association and Rotary Club of Claremont, which engage in social upliftment programmes as well as the development and promotion of cycling in the Western Cape. Over the last five years, we have raised more than R50 million for these initiatives” says David Bellairs, founder, and organiser of the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo registration, starting on 07 March at the DHL Stadium in Green Point, is a vibrant showcase of cycling, health, and fitness products, allowing participants and visitors to immerse themselves into the world of cycling. To further enhance the rider and spectator experience, the SportSplits Tracker Mobile App offers real-time participant tracking, with leaderboards, map tracking, and text notifications; while the Cape Town Cycle Tour app further enhances spectator experience with suggestions for prime viewing sites to best enjoy the race experience.

“At Standard Bank, we are dedicated to partnering with our clients for growth and supporting initiatives that uplift communities. Our sponsorship of the Cape Town Cycle Tour is a prime example of how collaborative efforts can drive socio-economic progress. It underscores our commitment to drive meaningful partnerships that foster personal, business, and community development. We are excited about the potential this partnership holds to bring impactful change to communities in the Western Cape” says Simone Cooper, Head of Business and Commercial Banking, Standard Bank South Africa.
