Fraudsters can catch you anytime, anywhere. Know what to look out for in public and online spaces.
Stay alert! Fraud avert.
In public:
- Don’t carry large amounts of cash around
- Don’t announce your intention to deposit cash
- Be aware of people possibly following you to and from the bank
- Be aware of people watching you enter your card PIN
- Don’t use ATM machines if something looks wrong
- Simply cancel your transaction if you’re unsure of anything
In shops:
- Don’t let your bank card out of your sight
- Cover your PIN with your hand when you enter it on the card machine
- Make sure you’re signed up for MyUpdates so that you can immediately see activity on your card
- Always make sure you get the right card back
On holiday:
- Be careful when booking holidays online. Research the source of the holiday offer thoroughly
- Be suspicious if packages seem very cheap. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is
Online:
- Create secure passwords that contain a combination of letters, numbers and characters
- Never give your PIN to anybody via telephone, email or messenger
- Don’t use public computers to do your Internet Banking
- Always make sure your anti-virus software is up to date
