DebiCheck is a secure debit order payment system that allows you to electronically approve your debit order details. This will prevent fraudulent debit orders from being processed, giving you more control over your finances.

How it works

Let’s say you’ve taken out a new cellphone contract and need to pay the monthly instalments via debit order. The DebiCheck process will work as follow:

  • We will send you an SMS to approve your new DebiCheck mandate
  • If correct, you can confirm the debit order details supplied
  • Only if you accept, will the debit order be processed
  • If you reject the debit order, it won’t go through
  • If your details don’t match the debit order, we won’t process it

Please note: To receive the DebiCheck SMS notifications, we need your latest cellphone number on our system.

How to approve it

If you have a Standard Bank transactional account, you can approve a DebiCheck mandate through the channel you prefer:

  • On the Standard Bank app
  • On your phone (dial *120*2345#)*
  • By calling us on 0860 123 000
  • At the till (use your card and PIN on the retailer’s device)
  • At any of our ATMs with a DebiCheck logo (you’ll get a slip with all the DebiCheck details on approval)
  • At your nearest branch

*You must be registered for cellphone banking

Before authorising a DebiCheck mandate, we’ll send you an SMS to verify the following debit order details:

  • Who is debiting your account
  • When you will be debited
  • How much you will be debited
  • How it works
  • How to approve it
  • What you approve
