Get or change your PIN

What is this?
Need to go shopping and want to use your new bank card? You’ll need to get a five-digit PIN when you use your card. This can be changed conveniently at any time.

How to use it?

  • To get your new PIN, give us a call or visit your nearest branch with your bank card and ID book
  • To change your PIN, visit your nearest Standard Bank ATM, insert your card and follow the on-screen instructions • You can also visit your nearest branch

What it costs

  • This is a free service for all Standard Bank cardholders.

Increase your limit

What is this?
Need to make a large purchase and want to increase your credit card limit? You can apply for an increase within 6 months of receiving your card.

How to use it?
To increase your limit, please give us a call on 0860 000 000 or visit your nearest branch.

What it costs?
This is a free service to Standard Bank cardholders but will require a full credit check.

Get an additional card

What is this?
Need an extra card that can be used by yourself or someone in your family? Please give us a call on 0860 000 0000 or visit your nearest branch.

Use your card abroad

What is this?
Planning a trip overseas? Rest assured that your card is accepted at over 30 million merchants worldwide.

How to use it?
You can activate your card for overseas travel in the Banking App or by letting us know your travel dates before you leave.

Sign into the banking app, navigate to the card you will be taking, select Use Your Card Abroad and enter your travel dates to activate your card for overseas use.

What it costs?
This is a free service to all Standard Bank cardholders plus, if you buy your flight tickets using your card, you’ll automatically get free basic travel insurance. You’ll also get the option of taking up additional cover at preferential rates.

Link your card to your online banking profile

 What is this?
Link your card to Online Banking to see your latest card balances and other features.

How to use it?
To link your cards, please visit your nearest branch. Remember to bring a copy of your SA ID book/card (or passport if you’re not an SA citizen).

What it costs?
This is a free service to all Standard Bank cardholders.

Using your budget facility

What is this?
Credit cards are all about choice — that’s why your straight and budget facilities are combined on your card with a single limit.

How to use it?
Using the budget facility* for purchases over R 200 means you can choose to repay the amount within six months or over 60 months.

Please note:

  • Interest accrues from the date of the purchase
  • Instalments need to be repaid in full every month
  • All purchases, and the minimum payment due, are in your monthly statements

*Your budget facility cannot be used for travellers’ cheques, foreign currency or progressive payments (like your bond, petrol or electronic account payments).

Use of the budget facility is free for all credit card holders but repayment instalments will vary based on the credit card type. See our pricing guide for more details.

Enable or disable card transactions

What is this?
Want to disable all ATM transactions or online transactions?
The Banking App allows you to enable or disable the following transactions on your card:

  •  All
  • ATM
  • Point of Sale
  • Online
  • International

How to use it?
Sign into the Banking App, navigate to the card you’re using, select ‘Card Settings’ and disable the transactions you don’t want to use. You can also call us on 0860 000 0000 or visit your nearest branch.

This is a free service for all Standard Bank cardholders.
