Who can be covered
You can cover yourself and your family on one policy:
- Main member and spouse: 18-65 years
- Children: covered from birth (up to 21, or 25 if studying full-time)
- Parents and parents-in-law: 18-84 years
- Extended family members: from birth up to 84 years
- Unlimited family members can be added
Getting covered is simple
- No medical tests or underwriting required
- You can switch from another insurer and waive waiting periods
When your cover pays out
- Accidental death: No waiting period. Cover immediately starts after first premium
- All other benefits: 6-month waiting period
- Suicide: 12-month waiting period

- Choose up to 5 beneficiaries
- Add and manage cover for multiple family members under one plan

- Visit your nearest Standard Bank branch
These are the documents you’ll need to submit a claim:
- Certified copy of death certificate
- Notification of registration of death
- Burial order
- Certified copy of the claimant's ID
- Proof of relationship (like a marriage or birth certificate)
- Additional documents may be required for unnatural death claims
When claiming, please note:
- Claims must be submitted within 12 months of the insured person's death
- The policyholder and premium payer is required to provide proof of their relationship with the main life insured and other insured members on the policy
- Claims are processed by the Liberty Group once all information is verified
- Approved claims are paid out within 48 hours from receipt of all documents required for claim approval
- Your nominated beneficiary (maximum of 5 beneficiaries allowed) is the first person entitled to claim.
- If no beneficiary is nominated, the spouse (if covered/insured on the policy) can claim and receive the funeral cover payout.
- If there are no beneficiaries or spouse, the funeral cover is paid to the policyholder’s estate.
Important:
- The person claiming must prove they are entitled to the benefit before payment is made.
- A claim must be valid, and all policy conditions must be met (e.g., premiums paid, correct details provided).
- Supporting documentation (e.g., death certificate, ID, relationship proof) is required.
